Serene Hotel

We left straight away and found somewhere else. There were bugs throughout the room, water coming through the ceiling, and mold all over the quilt cover. Avoid this place at all costs, don’t make our mistake.

Serene Hotel has an entrance that opens onto the beach side, and I can’t recommend the staff highly enough. I’ve made three embarrassing mistakes over the past two weeks, accidentally losing things, and they went out of their way to help me sort them out, cheerfully and without complaining. I’m Steve Penny, and I literally wrote the book Hiring The Best People. I’ve spoken at major companies and human resources conferences around the world about spotting motivation and attitude. The team at Serene Hotel gets my very highest recommendation. You can’t do better.

The central location makes it easy to get around, and the bed was okay. Breakfast was ordinary, though it didn’t look fresh. The room was dirty, with old furnishings, a very small bathroom, and a toilet we couldn’t use. We asked for toilet paper and weren’t given any. The air conditioning was extremely unhygienic, and the room smelled of smoke. There was no service or contact with guests, and the friendliness was disappointing. We wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone who expects cleanliness and service, or takes friendliness for granted.

The room was large and the bed comfortable, with a fridge, kind staff, and good hot-water pressure in the shower. Still, it wouldn’t be my first choice. The hotel feels old and a bit depressing, and it isn’t the cheapest around here. Some rooms get VERY noisy until 4am from club music and dance shows. The aircon was extremely old and dirty, the Wi-Fi very slow, and cigarette smoke came into my room through the bathroom.
