The Stay Hotel

I keep coming back to The Stay Hotel on Soi 10, and it’s the first place I check when I visit Pattaya. The location is hard to beat: about a 2-minute walk to the beach, depending on your pace, and a 5-10 minute stroll to Central Mall or the Pattaya Night Bazaar. There’s a 7-Eleven less than five minutes away, with laundry places, souvenir shops, and food in every direction. The staff are consistently kind and courteous. Rooms have plenty of space, bathrooms have large showers with excellent water pressure, and the balconies are big enough for more than one person to sit outside comfortably. The hotel is over a decade old, so the exterior is starting to look dated, as you’d expect from its age and closeness to the beach and the elements. Some things inside, including the TVs and outlets, are showing their age too. Sawasdee Sea View directly across the street is under construction right now. I don’t know if it’s being remodeled or torn down, but there’s daytime construction noise. Those are minor issues for me. The comfort, location, and service make up for them. I love The Stay and will definitely be back.

The rooms and location were nice, and I really liked the breakfast. There’s a relaxing pool upstairs, and the staff are great. For anyone wondering, this place is guest friendly too.

At checkout they made a big issue of two missing bottles of water, even though I’m a long-time regular who stays in the suites. I asked the price and they wanted 20 baht. I paid it, but after being treated that way over two bottles, I wondered how they’d handle something serious. I told them I’d never book their hotel again.

I booked the junior suite, which was really spacious. The bathroom was awesome, the location is great, and the staff are relaxed, so it was easy to have a good time. Better than most places.
