I’ve stayed at Hip Inn twice, for nine days once and five days another time, and I’ll definitely come back. It was a welcoming place to return to after medical treatment. I wasn’t there for sightseeing, exactly. The big, clean room had a comfortable bed, a good shower, a small fridge with bottled water, and a closet for airing or hanging clothes. Lots of windows made it bright, but I could block the light when I wanted to sleep late. The hotel was quiet and relaxed, with an easy-going feel and a homey touch from all the eclectic decorations. I dislike generic hotels, especially for longer stays, but B&Bs and guest houses don’t suit my odd hours either. This was just right. Downstairs, the coffee shop/café had an interesting mix of furniture and decorations, a nice place to work on scrapbooks or write letters. The espresso drinks were top shelf. Around the hotel there were all kinds of curios, from toy Volkswagen busses to Vespa scooters and old typewriters. The polished concrete floors gave the older building a modern feel and avoided the dust, mildew, and bugs that gather in carpets. The coffee and tea were great, too. Staff were helpful and cooperative even though I don’t speak Thai. We used Google translate to arrange taxis and send laundry out. It’s close to the airport, and a medium walk into "downtown". There’s a family-run noodle cart across the street and a great open-air hot pot restaurant down the street. I didn’t have much I disliked, though a public wireless computer printer and more breakfast variety would have been handy.

The decor was nice, and the place is about a 20-minute walk from the train station. They have free wifi and a toilet. My iced coffee latte was 55 Baht, which wasn’t too bad. Ask for it not sweet unless you like Thai-style coffee, which is very sweet.

Nice hotel, and the coffee is great.

I liked the easygoing, casual atmosphere, and the staff and owner were really friendly. Rooms are decent, and the price is negotiable without being either very high or ridiculously cheap. A few rooms are somewhat dark. You can get food there and sit down, and breakfast comes from a menu. The fresh coffee was delicious, served in a take-away cup. I enjoyed my stay and will drop by again when I’m in Phitsanulok.

Breakfast was a real highlight, with lots of delicious choices and complimentary hotel water. The staff were attentive. My room was clean, convenient, and had a great view, though I didn’t like the dog smell. The check-in lobby was a little messy.
