Alfresco Phuket Hotel

The location is genuinely close to everything, and the room was a decent size. Those were the good points. The policies made the stay frustrating and took away basic convenience. We booked and paid for two guests but got only one key. All the room electricity runs through a slot by the door, so taking the key out cuts power to the outlets, AC, and refrigerator. That meant no charging laptops, power banks, or cameras while we were out, and no way for one of us to leave while the other rested without shutting off their electricity and AC. I understand wanting to save power, but guests who’ve paid should be able to keep things cool and charge devices securely while away. The visitor rule was also very restrictive. Even though we’d paid for two, the room’s maximum occupancy, we were told a visitor required a 650 Baht fee. That seems excessive for any visit, especially one lasting an hour or less. An overnight charge at cheap accommodation is understandable, but this felt like a barrier to having someone over. The one-key power cutoff and visitor charge really reduced the value of the stay. Given all these hassles, I’d strongly advise against paying more than $35 AUD per night.
