We booked and paid through Agoda expecting a full sea view, as shown in the listing photos and our reservation. Instead, the room we were given had only a partial view, which wasn’t what we’d booked. At reception, one of the two women spoke English while the other advised her in Thai about what to say. My husband politely asked if we could move to another floor, but was told there were no rooms available. Soon after he stepped away, two male guests were given what looked like the same room type on a different floor, so we felt we hadn’t been given accurate information. When I asked to speak with the manager, both staff members ignored me. It felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. We’re only asking for the room we paid for or a fair solution. Please explain the difference and have the hotel manager contact us promptly.

Benjamin Hotel in Phuket isn’t five-star, but it’s a backpacker’s place, not a luxury resort. For thirty bucks a night, being right on the beach with ocean-view balconies is a steal. The rooms are dated but clean, with fresh sheets, and the location is great. The staff are absolute gems, sweet and admirable people who make a real difference. Families expecting five-star comfort may be disappointed, but the description says it’s three-star at most. Come expecting budget charm and you’ll leave happy. For the price, this is great value. It’s right on the seafront in Kamala, with a spacious, comfortable room and an excellent spot for both the beach and local food. There are a couple of little annoyances: the air-conditioning makes a slight noise at night, and there’s only one power outlet in the room. Still, the price and location make it well worth it.

The location was great, but the room was awful. I booked through Agoda and the photos were a complete lie. It felt like being a kid opening a Christmas present from your brother and finding one old shoe inside.
