Na Siam Guesthouse

We liked the location beside the Historical centre. Nearly all the main sights are an easy walk, about 10 minutes away, and being on a dead-end street keeps things fairly peaceful. Now and then a loud motorbike came by at night, but it wasn’t much louder than the airco. We booked one night and ended up adding another. The room had no windows, which was okay, though next time I’d pick one with windows. It was clean, the bed was made, and there were snacks in the fridge at about 7-11 prices. The bathroom was less impressive: the tap was wonky and the warm shower had low pressure. On the first day we saw two cockroaches, but none after that. The check-in desk closes at 1700. After that, your keys are left outside the door and you let yourself in. It felt a bit odd that anyone from the street could enter the guesthouse. There’s also laundry pickup at 0700 the next day for 60 THB per kilo, which was very handy. Across the road, the food court has great food and is easy to overlook. Two mini markets are within 25 meters, with pretty much everything you might need.

The rooms are huge, and the beds were so comfortable that I didn’t get the back pain I usually remember after a night or two in a hotel. It’s not a resort or five-star place, and there’s no pool, but it still felt like five stars to me. The coffee shop downstairs serves magnificent drinks, and since it isn’t a pub, there’s no music or crowd keeping you up. The hotel is on a dead-end street, far enough from the bustle for a great night’s sleep, yet close enough to walk to what you need for a holiday. The staff were friendly and helpful, gave good advice on getting around and things to see, and went out of their way for reasonable requests. Every business they recommended was top quality. I can’t imagine choosing somewhere else next visit. I can’t stand people who whinge just for the sake of it about traffic noise. Thanks for making an incredible holiday even better. 9.5 stars from me :)

The Wi-Fi was abysmal and never really worked properly during my stay. At one point it showed a suspension notice saying TOT had disabled it because the bill “wasn't paid” 😅. Otherwise, it’s a decent little place, fairly modern, with a pleasant lobby and chill area and helpful staff. There’s a street food stall out front selling crispy crepe-like things that actually got a Michelin star. If you want somewhere in Old Town for a few nights, why not.

My rating is just for the bar. It’s a little hard to spot down a side street, though it’s very central. The place is cool and nicely furnished, if a bit dark. Prices are okay, service is top-notch, and the drinks taste good. The espresso is very good by Thai standards. I’d happily come back.
