Norn Talay Surin Beach Phuket Hotel

We stayed a long time at Norn talay Beach Hotel with family, and we were really upset by how rude the staff and receptionist were. They charge even for little things. Checkout is at 12:30, and when we asked for just 20 more minutes, they wanted 300 Baht. That felt very rude, especially in Phuket, and we don’t recommend this high-priced hotel to anyone. The pillows smelled really bad, and breakfast had nothing, absolutely zero. The worst hotel I’ve experienced.

The staff tried their best and were really nice, and the views from the rooms were 🔥. You can access the beach directly, so who needs to walk down the street? The location is a 10/10. The rooms are definitely outdated, and breakfast was basic. I gave it three stars because all the four-star hotels I stayed at in Thailand were better, with newer rooms and better breakfast.

The location is outstanding, right above Surin Beach with a beautiful sea view. That’s the only good part of my stay at Norn Talay. For the high January price in Phuket, the experience was a complete disaster. The property is old and worn out, with signs of poor maintenance and neglect. The renovations look quick and badly done. The old sliding glass doors don’t close properly, and the outdated room doors feel weak and don’t inspire confidence about security. The bathroom feels dangerous. Its shower has a swinging panel or window that won’t close or lock, so it offers no real safety protection. Someone could slip and fall out of the bathroom, potentially onto the beach side from the first, second, third, or even higher floors. People could be seriously injured or killed. This basic safety failure is completely unacceptable. There was no hot water in the room. I asked reception several times, but 24 hours later the problem still wasn’t fixed. I asked to change rooms, but they refused and offered no alternative. Customer service was extremely poor, unresponsive, and unprofessional. At this price in high season, guests should be able to expect rooms in proper condition, working facilities, and efficient, professional service. None of that was delivered. The stunning location can’t make up for an old, badly maintained property that’s been poorly renovated, is unsafe in places, and is badly managed. Terrible value. I strongly don’t recommend this hotel.

The pool and beautiful view were the hotel’s only positives, though that doesn’t mean the pool itself was excellent. We stayed one night at Norn Talay Surin Beach Phuket during the first week of November. It’s listed as a four-star hotel, but felt more like three stars, and the price didn’t seem justified. The room wasn’t clean by four-star standards and had an unpleasant smell. The path from the hotel to the beach passed an uncovered drain that smelled bad. Service wasn’t very welcoming, including from the kitchen staff, although the parking security guard was notably polite and helpful. Breakfast was very limited for a four-star place. I expected more variety, especially meat options, jams, and similar items. They had fried noodles, two kinds of fried eggs, one Thai chicken dish, fried cabbage, steamed rice, tomato soup, ham, and sausages. There were just three salad dressings and two kinds of bread, both left exposed to flies. The milk was sour.
