OYO 1163 Eden Hostel

We stayed for two nights and found the place very nice for the price. The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, and the AC worked well. We’d first booked a room with a shared bathroom, then asked to upgrade, and they did it without any trouble. Bus terminal 1 is only 500 meters away, and there’s a small pool. Free hot drinking water was available, and they even let us wash our dishes. There wasn’t hot water in the shower, but that was alright in the heat. The owner has a story to tell about the monkey.

I stayed seven days in the simple room. It really is simple, but what more do you expect for 200 baths? The blankets and towels were clean. The mattress was a little hard, but okay for my back ;) The staff were helpful and friendly while I was there. They helped me find nice beaches and motorbike rentals at good prices. There’s also a small pool, useful when you’re too hot to head to the beach. The monkey is cute. If you feel bad for her, go give her food, spend time with her, touch her, and try to make her happy. This isn’t a five-star hotel, it’s a guest house, and you’re not meant to stay in the simple room all day. Good for backpackers, with friendly staff.

The people were friendly, and the rooms were okay, but we only lasted one night even though we've backpacked for years. For 400 baht we got a room with air conditioning and a fan. The mattresses were so hard you could balance a full water bottle on them. The room smelled moldy, the sheets had yellow, footprint-like oil marks, the Wi-Fi didn't work, and there was no hot water. A coughing monkey sat chained in the lobby all day. Poor little guy. You can find better accommodation for the money.

The pool and shared showers are nice, and the room is cheap. Mine had poor ventilation, so I'd suggest choosing an air-conditioned room if you can. There's a very cute monkey in the courtyard. They apparently say it was injured and couldn't be returned to the wild, though I'm not sure I believe that. It looked pretty sad.
