Quip Bed & Breakfast Phuket Hotel

The lack of a lift was the main hassle for us. We were on the third floor and had to haul our heavy bags up and down ourselves, since there was no luggage service. Breakfast came in a basket left outside the door instead of being served in a dining area. It was simple but nice, just a banana, a small bottle of milk, and a plain croissant. Our room was spacious and clean, and the location was perfect for exploring nearby areas. We had a comfortable stay at Quip Bed & Breakfast Hotel in Phuket.

We travel a lot and have visited Thailand many times, but this was easily our worst experience with a front desk there. Staff were extremely unhelpful. We asked for another room key and offered to leave a deposit, but were told none were available. My girlfriend had conference calls from midnight to 5 AM to match US work hours, and the lobby was completely dark with no staff around to help. We brought up our concerns, but got no empathy or effort to help. Our late checkout request was also denied without explanation. On top of that, the rooftop bar and lobby coffee shop, two of the main advertised amenities, were closed. We moved across the street to The Pearl Hotel for just $5 more per night, and it was a night and day difference. The Pearl Hotel was far better for service, comfort, and the overall stay. Save yourself the frustration and stay at The Pearl Hotel instead of Quip. They have friendlier staff and elevators.

Right in the heart of Phuket Old Town, this was a perfect place for us to stay. We had a truly wonderful time. The staff were friendly and professional, and the prices offered great value.

We were a family of four and liked the hotel's vintage style. Getting around was easy: it's an easy walk to places, with a laundry shop and halal food on the left just 1-2 minutes away, plus a convenience store about 3-4 minutes away. The service was great. There are some real downsides for families with young kids. The hotel has no lift, and the sharp edges, steep stairs, and open walkway to the main door on the second floor didn't feel safe for children to roam around. The bathroom was slippery, and no toiletries were provided.
