The Surin Phuket

Updated review April 2026: We came back for our second stay in nine months and have a few suggestions for management. The black tile looks beautiful, but in the hottest month of the year it makes the pool as warm as a bath, even warmer than the ocean. A chiller would help make it cool and refreshing when it's so hot outside. At a hotel in this price range, complimentary sunscreen would be a nice touch. B$700 for sunscreen is a bit of a joke. There were also several upgraded rooms available when we checked in for two nights. Since we aren't part of a loyalty program, offering repeat guests any kind of complimentary upgrade would be a kind and appreciated courtesy. We visited during rainy season, so prices were reasonable. You literally share the beach with Amanpuri next door, arguably the nicest and most expensive hotel in Phuket. Highly recommend, and I'll return soon!

The resort feels small and personal, with only about 100 cottages, and the staff went out of their way to remember our specific orders and be personable. Our cottages were well-equipped, the views breathtaking, and service superb. The beach is beautiful and just steps from the pool. The property is at the end of a long driveway, but golf carts can take you to the end. Top’s Market is right next door for anything you need. We stayed a few nights, loved it, and would highly recommend it for a future Phuket vacation.

We stay at The Surin often because it's one of our happy places. The protected bay makes the beach feel almost private, with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. The waves are just right, neither placid nor turbulent. The staff are the reason we keep coming back. They're polite and remember us. Dee's lovely smile stands out, and I appreciated all the buggy rides back to our room and the help with our luggage. Dada and Kitty at the restaurants were also kind, cheerful, and gave us great service. A great vacation!

The atmosphere is wonderful, and the resort's overall quality is top-notch. Our rooms alone would make it worth visiting: beautifully designed, clean, and very comfortable. The cocktails were exceptional, and the beer selection was high quality and enjoyable too. A few things to know: the resort sits on a slope with lots of stairs, which could be difficult for guests with mobility concerns, though it wasn't an issue for us. Food quality was good, but I'd have liked more menu variety on a longer stay. There was also only a limited amount of drinking water in the room, and I wasn't sure where to get more. More bottles or clearer restocking information would help. Despite those points, I'd return without a doubt. It's a fantastic place to unwind.
