Supalai Scenic Bay Resort And Spa

We stayed for six days and enjoyed it. The bay views are excellent, and both the pool and restaurant food were nice. There's not much nearby, but it's a good fit if you'd rather avoid the crowds in other parts of Phuket.

The restaurant was the biggest letdown. I expected little, since hotel restaurants are rarely good, but this was worse than that. The prices were higher, which I understand given how remote the resort is, but the food should make those prices worthwhile. Much of it was tasteless: the Beef Paneng curry had dry beef, the PadThai tasted mostly of ketchup, the Tenderloin portions were tiny, and one chicken curry was very bland. The French fries and fried seabass were the best things I tried. Service was slow too. Staff often stood with their backs to diners, and we had to walk over or wave to get attention. Some people waited a long time to order, and clearing up after meals took a while. There is room to improve. Breakfast was okay, a typical Asian buffet with fried rice, curries, chicken sausages, salad, and omelettes. I'd have preferred unsweetened plain yoghurt to the sweetened, flavored kind, though maybe that's just me. Even with that, we loved our stay at Supalai and could happily have stayed longer. The resort's private beach was lovely, uncrowded, and well equipped with a pool, bar, toilets, and more. Shuttles ran down and up the hill whenever needed, and there was also a free shuttle to Phuket old town, which was nice. Both resort pools were amazing and very kid-friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the view and sunrise were the best parts. A drying rack on the balcony would be a useful addition for wet swimsuits. It is remote, so you feel a bit stuck there. There's one small restaurant at a nearby hotel that served better food at a better price, which helped. All in all, we could imagine coming back.

The view is good and the staff are good too. But there's no service near the hotel, and you need a taxi. It takes around an hour to get to town and the beach.

We had a wonderful visit in April 2024. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the restaurant manager was an exceptional person who kept us entertained with unique little stories. Thank you! I hope I can visit again this year.
