The Memory at On On Hotel

The On On has so much charm and lovely decor, it felt like stepping back in time. We spent three nights in old town, in room 204, the Leo room. It had what we needed and a comfortable bed. Alan and Gambeer were especially kind and attentive. Everything is within walking distance, though the beaches are a 45-50 minute drive away.

The Sunday night market was a treat, especially since it was easy to pop back to the hotel for an air-conditioned break. You can't beat the central location. Our room was small but had everything we needed, with cold AC, a great shower pressure, and comfortable beds. From arrival, the service was unbelievable: cold towels and rose tea, a comfortable, beautifully decorated waiting room while they handled our paperwork, and lovely smiles from the staff. They walked us to the room and were excited for us to see the anniversary decorations, fresh petals and Sean’s and a lovely card. So thoughtful. Pisa did the decorating, and everyone looked after us. Nathan was a real gem, clearly proud of his work and happy to go beyond what was needed. He offered to book excursions and suggested things to see and do. His smile is infectious. Truly beautiful hotel.

The staff were so sweet and kind. My husband and I spent three nights and four days here. On the first night, we had a bit of a bug problem, but we sprayed ourselves all over with the pink mosquito spray and that got rid of them. The old building has slightly thin walls, which I suppose comes with being in such a prime spot. The location is lovely for walking around old town, surrounded by cafes, eateries and marts. It's rustic and gives you the feeling of going back in time. Our room was very clean and I think it had been redone. It also had a mini split AC unit to cool it.

We spent two nights here while passing through on the way to our next destination, and the friendly, helpful staff made check-in and check-out pleasant. The decor and ambience felt like a little escape from town, even though great restaurants and shops were just steps away. The room was on the small side, but the bed was very comfortable and the free mini bar was a nice extra. Breakfast was limited to small snacks and a discount at the attached cafe. The walls are thin, and because our room was near the main staircase, we often heard people coming and going, though it never woke us up. A charming place in a busy part of town, and I'd happily stay again or recommend it to someone looking for something unique.
