The Tint at Phuket town

I really liked being able to wander Phuket’s more local side from here. Old Phuket Town’s colourful Sino-Portuguese buildings, lively streets, cafés, night markets, and shops were all an easy walk away, so it felt far from the usual crowded tourist areas. The neighbourhood had plenty of character, while the location made getting around simple. The property was comfortable, kept in good shape, and good value. Staff were kind and helpful throughout, whether I needed advice on local attractions or help arranging transport. A peaceful spot with plenty going on nearby, and a great mix of culture and convenience.

After more than 14 hours on a bus to Phuket, we were ready for somewhere comfortable, and this hotel came through. The staff greeted us warmly, and the rooms were modern, colourful, and lovely. The snacks and drinks tasted good too, and we left happy with the stay. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. Just book it! :)

Tint Hotel Old Town was a really handy base for our family, and our room setup worked especially well with two kids. It’s one large room split into two sleeping spaces by a wall, with more room than I expected. The hotel sits right in Old Town, so cafés, restaurants, the Sunday market, and the pretty streets are all just a few minutes on foot. There were lots of thoughtful extras. The free morning spread had toast, jam, cakes, and fruit, plus coffee all day, which helped with the kids. Downstairs there’s a pantry with drinks, snacks, and even diving essentials, along with blocks, books, and activities to pass the time. Our room also came with a surprisingly generous free mini bar, including coffee, Chupa Chups, peanuts, Coca-Cola, and other snacks. I’m not sure every room gets that. A few practical things could be better. There’s no restaurant or room service, though plenty of food is available nearby. Staff aren’t available for housekeeping around the clock, and despite asking and following up for three days, we never got the extra blanket we requested, which would have cost extra. You also have to carry your own luggage, and the lift is small enough that it might take a few trips. We only got one key card, with a 500 Baht deposit needed for a second. Sounds carry through the close-set rooms from the corridor, so late arrivals can be noisy. For a small boutique-style hotel, we found it comfortable and enjoyable, with a great family room and a superb location. The staff limitations make sense for a small place with few people on hand. It’s a lovely base for exploring Phuket Old Town.

We booked five nights at The Tint Hotel after the hotel we’d already paid for cancelled at the last minute. We ended up leaving after just one night, and the choice was a mistake. The bathroom smelled unpleasant the whole time, and the room felt extremely overpriced for what it offered. The woman at reception was also rude and unhelpful. When I asked to get the money back for the remaining nights, they refused, pointing to their refund policy. Be careful, because if you arrive and don’t like it, you’ll most likely lose what you paid. For that price, there are much better options, including genuinely luxurious hotels. I strongly recommend looking around before booking, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
