Marriott'S Mai Khao Beach - Phuket

The breakfast buffet was a great start to the day, with lots of choices. The resort is older, but it’s extremely clean and very well maintained, from the grounds to the common areas, which made it feel relaxing and comfortable. We had a great stay at the JW Marriott in Phuket, with excellent service and staff who were friendly and helpful throughout. I’d definitely return if I’m back in Phuket.

The food was excellent, especially the Italian, and Benihana was a good experience without being too expensive. The gardens were lush, and the large pools looked inviting. Our ground-floor pool-access room had a lovely terrace, and the linen and pillows were excellent. The rooms are old but well maintained, and there was nothing to watch on TV. The property feels oversized and ageing, and it was quite a long walk from our location to the adults pool.

Dinner at M Beach Club was a real high point. Jord was exceptionally helpful and generous with his time, and the rest of the team gave first-class service. Later, the lobby bar had a great atmosphere, singers, and well-made cocktails. The rooms were spacious, with especially luxurious bedding. I’d stayed at this JW more than 10 years ago with friends and was excited to show my partner why I’d loved it. The check-in took a while, and despite it being the official check-in time, we were told no room was ready. They offered us a complimentary drink at the bar, but we would much rather have had our room on time. One thing that could be clearer is which poolside seats have a fee. We settled into a daybed before someone told us there was a charge. It’s still an amazing venue, but the stay didn’t impress me as much as my first one, especially for the price.

We stayed longer than planned because we loved the place. It has a private beach, local stores, tennis, yoga, a kids’ entertainment area, evening entertainment, and cozy places to hang out away from other guests. The staff were so kind and went out of their way to help. Dom made check-in smooth, and checkout was smooth too. Thanks to everyone, keep doing what you’re doing. It’s working.
