Palm Payom Village Resort

Being able to park my bike right outside the room was a real convenience, and it felt secure there. The room itself was beautiful, very clean, and had no bad smell. The bathroom was roomy, and the essential hotel amenities were provided. The owner was welcoming and made a genuine effort to communicate despite our language difference. At 500 baht, it was great value and well worth it. Highly recommended.

The family who own PPV were friendly and hospitable, and spoke some English. I paid 500 baht for a spacious double room, room 9, without a fridge, and stayed one night while cycling south. They serve meals either in your room or at a big dining table. Dinner was delicious pork with curry paste and rice for 59 baht, plus Thai tea for 25 baht. I'm not sure whether they offer breakfast. There are local walking and cycling routes, though the dogs are worth watching out for. The beach is about 1 km away and was strewn with rubbish, possibly left by high tide or a storm. It could be a nice beach if cleaned up. Sand had also covered part of the concrete coastal road leading south to a nearby village. I spotted around a dozen small ants in my room, larger ants on the railings above the water, and two cockroaches, one in the bedroom that may have come through a small gap in the sliding doors, and one in the bathroom. They didn't spoil the good time I had at PPV. In hindsight, I wish I'd stayed another night.

The coastal road along this stretch is stunning and goes on for miles. From the accommodation, it's about a fifteen-minute walk to the coast and about the same to the 7-11. You can rent a motorbike here to ride along the shoreline. The family-run place has big, very clean rooms and great AC, for 500 baht a night. They also serve delicious food at low prices. Definitely worth stopping here.

The owners are friendly, and the accommodation is cheap and affordable. It's not far from the beach, and the nearest 7 Eleven is 800 meters away.
