Orchid Apartment

I paid 400 THB/month at Orchid Apartment. No key deposit was needed, but they required a photocopy of my ID card. Check-out is at 12:00 PM. It's 2 km from the city center, and I got lost the first time I tried to find it, so GPS is a good idea. My room was on the second floor and had bright lighting. Motorcycle parking is under the building, but space is limited. The mattress was comfortable for one person, though two would be cramped. The mattress and pillows were soft, but the sheets were torn. The TV was loud, the picture unclear, and some channels couldn't be understood. The bathroom was a little cramped but okay, with good water pressure and working hot water. There was old soap left on the dish. The room wasn't clean: dust stuck to my feet as I walked around, and there were cobwebs in lots of places. The water in the fridge was unusable, apparently frozen and then put back in there, and there was ice in the freezer, making it seem the room hadn't been cleaned properly. The air conditioner took a long time to cool the room. The ceiling light kept flickering annoyingly when I tried to sleep with it off, so I had to leave the main light on. A terrible experience. For 400 baht, you get a clean, quiet, peaceful room and convenient parking.

I still feel warmly about my first stay there. It left a really strong impression on me!
