Phu Sakon Ville Hotel

Getting around could be awkward without a car, since the hotel is down an alley. The room was clean and sensibly laid out, with a comfortable bed and good soundproofing. Breakfast was simple Thai food, but quite good. There's also a small pool, though the water wasn't clean.

I left feeling unfairly treated. During the night I had a digestive problem and slightly stained the sheets. The staff said the mark couldn't be cleaned and charged me 300 baht for laundry, even after I showed them it was a surface stain that basic cleaning could remove. I don't think a guest should be charged for a small, accidental incident during a paid stay when nothing was broken or stolen. To me, this was ordinary use, not negligence or damage. The room itself was fine and clean, and the stay was otherwise acceptable. The breakfast buffet had quite limited variety and could be better. Still, the way the hotel handled this minor issue was disappointing.

The pool was very good, and breakfast was excellent. It's a quiet spot just off the main road, with spacious, comfortable, clean accommodation that's well presented. There are no lifts, but that wasn't a problem for me.

The buffet breakfast was modest but delicious, opened early, and was included in my stay. I was also impressed by how the pool was presented as the centerpiece of this classy, contemporary hotel. My room was spacious and immaculately clean, with plenty of power points, workstations, and seating. The interior was well done, with a fantastic television, modern bathroom, comfortable raised double bed, and even a funky sofa. The hotel sits back on a side soi off the main road into and out of Sakon Nakhon City, like an oasis. Staff were great: they took my bags to the room while I waited, helped me with directions, and arranged transport to the bus station at checkout. I'll be back.
