Golden Dragon Resort

The hotel has an old, grand feel, though when we first arrived it almost looked like a Thai school. There’s a big, cool supermarket right beside the “resort”, which is handy. I nearly gave it five stars, but breakfast was aimed more at Thai tastes than at visitors from elsewhere, and there wasn’t even any tea. The room was spacious and very clean, with a nice hot shower and outlets beside the bed. It’s still a solid place to stay.

Mosquitoes were a problem both in the room and around the restaurant, and they ruined the sleep and bothered us during the meal. The hotel has its own large restaurant with live music, which was good, and breakfast was included and decent. The rooms are large, with built-in balconies and big bathrooms with plenty of hot water, though ours had an annoying smell. It’s a large hotel with a great reception, a nice entrance and exit, and plenty of parking.

There’s plenty of off-road parking at the front. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, with everything you need, and the included breakfast has the usual mix of Western and Thai choices. At B800 to 1,000, it’s very reasonably priced. Golden Dragon Resort is an older style hotel north of Bangkok, but perfectly acceptable for a stopover when heading to or from the capital.

It was peaceful and very quiet, and the room was spacious and clean. A grand hotel, though there were lots of mosquitoes around the grounds and parking area at night.
