The Luxury Residence

I rejected the first two rooms because of mold. The third, room 1B, had very poor air conditioning. Leaving the key in and insisting on a fan made the room okay. This is a mediocre hotel, and some reviews are clearly fake.

The location is convenient, with plenty of local food options and a nice beach about a 1 km walk away. Service was good, though there wasn’t much interaction since breakfast and other food were simply delivered to the room. The downstairs staff were very friendly and respectful.

The room was quiet and clean, with good WiFi, working air conditioning, a fridge and kitchen that were okay, and a comfortable bed. You could choose between thin or thick pillows. The shower was a pathetic trickle, even though the water was warm. The sink tap had all the pressure the shower needed, so when you opened the lever tap it splashed all over you. Open it very carefully! The TV was all in Thai, great if you speak it :) The rooms face each other across a tiny courtyard, so your neighbors can see you like a goldfish in a bowl. You can close the curtains, but not in the kitchen.

The room has a small-apartment feel, with a decent amount of space and everything very clean. There’s a separate little room, plus a bathroom with a shower. The kitchen is next to the bathroom and has a stove, hood, microwave, plates and utensils, and there’s a kettle with Ovaltine and coffee too. Samila Beach is about a five-minute drive away, and there’s a breakfast place nearby serving things like khao tom and dim sum. Parking is on the roadside rather than at the property, though it’s easy to find a spot. There’s no elevator, so large luggage could be awkward.
