Grand Thara Hotel

For the price, this is a great deal, and the location is good too. The staff were friendly and always ready to help. It was my first stay at a B2 hotel, and honestly, I had a great time. The rooms look quite fancy and feel comfortable. The one letdown was the TV, which has no casting or streaming options.

We book here when our main choices are full because the rooms are always cheap. It's an old hotel that's had an okay renovation, but three stars is about the most I'd give it. With just one elevator for 150-plus rooms, you can be waiting five minutes or longer when it's full. The staff are useless, as if they're paid a dollar an hour. A few make an effort, but most seem to hate their jobs, and it shows. Breakfast is tiny, wouldn't feed a starving bird, and tastes like a cardboard wrap.

On the night I arrived at B2 Surat Thani Hotel, there wasn't a parking space available. A female staff member immediately started running back and forth on foot to find one. Her patience and warm manner really touched me. I don't know her name, but she has a slightly chubby figure, which may help the team identify her. I gave her 100 Thai Baht as a small thank-you, though I still wanted to express my appreciation formally. Her care and dedication made my stay very pleasant and memorable. Thank you for having such a wonderful employee.

The rooms are beautiful and the location is great. I loved my three nights there until the deposit issue left me feeling scammed. I accidentally broke a 5 baht glass, then wiped the floor with a wet towel to be nice, and they kept my 500 baht deposit. Keeping 100 baht would have been no problem. Three dollars to replace a cheap water glass and wash and bleach two towels seems fair. Skin tax doesn't cover it. Fifteen US dollars could have bought them ten glasses and ten towels. Now I'm worried about leaving a negative comment. Yeah, they're smiling for a reason.
