OYO 1031 Amera Resort

We happened to stop here and stayed for two nights. The owners are lovely, the price is minimal, and the place itself is beautiful. Our room had all the comforts we needed, including air conditioning, TV, fridge, hot shower, coffee and hot water. It was clean, quiet, and had a great atmosphere. The food was amazing too. Thanks! This has been our best stay so far.

We liked the resort so much that we added another week to our stay. The family running it made us feel welcome, and the value and hospitality were the best we've had in a year of traveling around SEA. It felt like a 5* hotel at a budget price, with us treated like part of the family. The rooms, whether in the building or in containers, are clean and modern, with AC, blackout curtains, fridges, balconies, cable TV, good bedding and pillows, towels and bathrobes. There are en suite hot water showers and really fast Wi-Fi. A generous local breakfast is included, as is free coffee all day. The hosts are helpful and generous. They won't rip off tourists or let taxis do it, so ask them to arrange a ride before you arrive instead of risking tourist prices from the train, bus, or airport. They also found us the cheapest ferry fares to and from the islands. We got free food market and floating market tours with them, though of course we paid for our food, not their time or expertise. They plan to offer free Thai cooking classes to guests in the future. The owner is a chef, and the Thai food here is delicious, generously portioned, and well priced. I highly recommend having dinner here too.

We felt like family after four days here, and I'll come back one day. The rooms are clean and nice, the rates are cheap, and there's a good restaurant. The service was unbelievably good. The Thai owner speaks English and helped us with a scooter, transfers, and lots more. He was the first person who didn't rip us off, and gave us great rates for Koh Samui and elsewhere. Clean, nice, and a bit different, with no mosquitoes! One tip: Lomprayah Tapee Pier has no speedboat to the islands. For 150 baht per person, you can take a bus to Donsak Pier with your speedboat ticket.
