Khaolak Grand City

We ate here a few times while staying in Khao Lak, and every dish was incredible. The food is excellent for a reasonable price, and the very kind waiter let us swim in the pool afterwards.

Ask for a room at the back if you can. There are trees there and it's really nice and quiet, while the street-facing rooms aren't as good. The rooms themselves are nice, and the husband is much cooler than the lady and speaks perfect English. The staff are nice too. The restaurant is okay. It's a little outside the city center, though there's not much there anyway. Affordable, comfortable, and good value for money.

There are lots of bars and restaurants within a 10-minute walk, and the beach is about 10-15 minutes away on foot. We rented a ped for 250BHT and also went to coconut and white sand beach. The pool was clean and well kept, and the restaurant downstairs served good food. Our room was pretty and cool with the air con, though I would've liked a bit more natural light. We mostly stayed outdoors anyway. There was a kettle, coffee left each day, and they kept the water in our fridge topped up. A very lovely stay. There were a few too many children screaming, though I know sometimes I get that excited too, so it can't really be helped.

The staff were very friendly and really went out of their way for us. After a storm knocked out the wifi, they moved us to another room. The hotel itself was very clean, the pool was nice, and the restaurant had delicious food at good prices. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it if you want to be in the city centre.
