Hotel Riu Palace Phuket - All Inclusive

I booked a family holiday months ahead so 15 relatives could come together. The hotel was supposed to open in April, so we felt comfortable booking for June. Later I was told it wouldn't be ready, and changing several flights cost me extra. After rearranging the trip, I was informed for a second time that it still wouldn't open for our new dates. Now my choices are moving to a different hotel that doesn't meet our expectations or cancelling and losing the money spent on flights. This was outside my control, but RIU has declined responsibility for those extra costs and offered no real help or escalation. The whole situation has caused stress, inconvenience, and financial loss for my family and me. From a company this size, I expected much better communication, accountability, and customer care. I'm extremely disappointed with RIU Hotels. Think carefully before booking, especially at a new property that hasn't opened yet.
