Ma Maison Phuket

We booked at the last minute after our plans changed and we couldn't extend our first choice, so we skipped our usual research. The room itself was fine and the bed was firm. The pool felt too cool for me. The bigger problem was the noise. A restaurant beside the hotel had live music from 6 p.m. until after 11. It started out okay, but the singer barely took a break, and by the middle of the evening his voice was gone and he sounded hopelessly out of tune, in my opinion. Our room was at the far end, backing onto a 24-hour weed shop. Once the restaurant music stopped, we got a doof-doof sound through the wall from the shop all night. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

I left just after checking in, even though I'd booked for a few days. The price was quite high by Thailand standards, which made the condition of the place especially frustrating. The toilet had such a strong smell that it seemed like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The shower barely stayed upright, and none of the electrical outlets worked, so I couldn't charge my phone. When I raised this politely with management, they were dismissive and rude and didn't offer any solution. Don't assume the price means you'll get good quality here. After leaving, I found cheaper places in much better shape.

The noise from the restaurant next door was unbearable, and the pool chairs had holes in them too. The room was also a mess: dirty, torn sheets with huge holes, ants everywhere, and an AC unit that left a big puddle of water on the floor. Even the towels were made from some of the worst material I've seen. This was by far my worst accommodation in Thailand, especially for such a high price. Avoid it.

The place didn't feel well maintained, and the cleanliness overall fell short of what I expected. I also had an uncomfortable time dealing with the owner. I understand he's from Belgium and mainly speaks French, but I found him rude and unfriendly, which made the stay less pleasant.
