Ubon Hotel

It's close to the market, which is a plus. The place itself is huge, very old, and worn down, like it belongs to another era. In my old, smelly bed, a flood of ants marched across the pillows and sheets. The staff didn't seem surprised or embarrassed. I got another room, where I found several other strange things that shouldn't be in a hotel room you're paying for. After sunset, bring your phone or a flashlight, since some floors have no lights at all.

I tried to report the problems politely, but nothing in room 522 has been repaired in two years. The toilet still leaks, and the shower's hot water faucet still doesn't work. Today I was told hot water is available only from 6-10am and 6-10pm, with no explanation of why or how long that will be the case. I've been given this same room on three of my last five visits over two years, which makes me wonder if it's the room they assign to Agoda bookings. A year ago the hotel was okay, though already showing some neglect, and now it's going downhill fast. Management doesn't seem to be trying to keep loyal customers. There are plenty of other hotels in this price range in Ubon, so I'd only use this one as a last resort.

The location is great, opposite the city pillar and night market, with easy access to places around town. It was also very good value. The hotel is old, but has its own charm. My room was comfortable, with a big balcony and a nice view, and there are two elevators. The receptionist was kind and very nice. I had a great experience!

The staff were nice, and it was very quiet, but this was the worst hotel I've stayed in for a long time. In the first room, only half the lights worked and the toilet didn't. In the second, the toilet worked but half the lights didn't, and there was no hot shower. Wi-fi was only available at reception.
