At this price, I’d still recommend it if you’re not looking for anything fancy. It’s quiet and near town by car, though too far to walk. The place is a bit run down, but things work. There’s some dust and spiderwebs in the corners, although it isn’t dirty. The bed is somewhat soft and a little squeaky. You get a fridge, AC, and Wi-Fi, which is good. The pool is shallow and the water too warm, but at least there is a pool. Staff don’t greet you, and reception is often empty, so most of the time you have to call a local number to reach someone.

There’s a swimming pool right outside the room and a decent little gym. The hotel is about 7 km from the city center nightlife. I wouldn’t want to stay longer than a week, since it’s too far to walk anywhere.

I wouldn’t return. The pool wasn’t clean, and with all the rooms facing each other around one rectangular pool area, they didn’t feel private. We tried the traditional Udon breakfast: egg and sweet sausage served in a pan, but the egg white was extremely runny. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the nearest 7eleven. The street has lots of dogs, which made walking at night nerve-racking, so we took a taxi back from 7eleven.

Empire really lives up to its name. The hotel is clean and quiet, the food is great, and the staff are wonderful. I highly recommend it in udon Thani Thailand. If you visit northern province Thailand, come here. Such a wonderful stay, top stars from me.

I’m staying here long term. The rooms aren’t fancy, but they’re clean and comfortable, and everything works. Management is friendly and quick to handle any request.
