UD House

For just under 20 dollars, I got a spacious room with a balcony and a comfortable king-size bed. The room was soundproof, and the price was hard to beat. It's in a fantastic spot, with lots of restaurants and lounges nearby, which makes it a great base for a first visit to Udon Thani. I also got to chat with the manager, Nook. He was warm, friendly, and laid-back, spoke English fluently, and knew a lot about American culture. He made an ideal host.

I chose this budget hotel after my brother recommended it and its description seemed to fit what I needed, especially the location. Nu, the manager, was friendly and helpful with suggestions for a tailor, laundry, cafes, and directions. The room was clean, the AC worked well, and there was a hot shower, though the regular-temperature water is adequate too. The front lobby is a good place to socialize, and I met other guests there. I'd recommend it to people who don't need an elaborate fountain, doorman, or concierge.

Good value for a small, inexpensive hotel about a five-minute walk behind Central. There's a small car park on site, and the desk staff or manager speak English fluently.

The room was spacious and the staff were friendly. He spoke English really well, too. I'll stay here again if I come back to Udon.
