Hotel Nour Congress & Resort

The buffet was a highlight, with lots of choice and better quality than at other resorts I've tried. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and we felt welcome and looked after. Right by the beach, just a few steps from the sand, the hotel was a great place to relax. Waking up to the sound of the waves was incredible. I’d definitely come back for another holiday.

The internet was very slow, and they didn't answer the phone. The room had no toothbrush or toothpaste, tissues, or bathroom slippers, and the reception staff didn't seem professional. There was one employee and one intern working. I booked in euros through Booking, but had to pay in dinars, and they used a low exchange rate. For example, they calculated 175 dollars at 2.8 dinars per dollar, while the bank rate was almost 2.9. I don't recommend this hotel at all. Better to book a villa in the center. No value, and it was a very bad hotel. I thought it would be 4-star.

We booked two rooms that were meant to be next to each other, but they put us in separate rooms far apart. One was okay; the other was awful, stinky, poorly lit, and depressing. I DON'T recommend this hotel.

The room key kept deactivating, so I had to go back to reception every time. Once I went twice in the same hour just to get a working one. After we asked to switch rooms the next day because of the problems, staff said they'd send someone to fix the phone and other things. They came while we were sleeping; we politely asked them to return later, but they never did. We saw staff at reception several times afterward, yet nobody followed up or asked if anything had been fixed. It felt like we were on our own after check-in. The room itself had plenty of issues. The safe didn't work, the balcony lights were out, and the plug by the bed was dead, so charging my phone meant sitting across the room. The hairdryer lasted about 10 seconds, then stopped. There wasn't even a phone in the room to call reception or ask for room service. At reception, after a long trip, other guests seemed to get welcome drinks and we didn't. I wasn't desperate for juice, but that kind of selective welcome felt inconsistent and unwelcoming. The general attitude of the staff felt indifferent. Almost nobody smiled or made eye contact. The only exception was the kind man who carried our luggage, and he was also the only person who explained anything about the room or hotel. I don't usually write reviews, but this was frustrating enough that I hope it helps others set expectations. This didn't feel like the relaxing, professional experience you'd expect from a resort. It has potential, but poor service, maintenance problems, and little attention to guests let it down. I wouldn't return unless things seriously changed.
