Dar Saida Beya

The location was a big plus for me. Dar Saida Beya is in central old Tozeur, so the main modern and ancient areas are easy to reach on foot, with restaurants and little shops nearby. You’re not cut off from town the way you can be at the big hotels. It’s a small place, maybe ten rooms, arranged around an open courtyard, with two stairways leading up to some rooms. There’s a reception area and a little dining room and lounge with a fireplace, but no big lobby or hallways. The roof terrace has tables, chairs and some shade. I was there almost alone, though it would be a nice spot for a group to spend an evening. My room was spacious, with a sofa, small fridge, good bathroom and a private terrace behind glass doors. The hotel seems purpose-built or renovated as a hotel, rather than a B&B, and the design and decor are tasteful, with excellent construction quality. The staff were very kind and helpful, breakfast was very good and more than I could finish, and the WiFi worked fine. There was air conditioning, which I needed during my stay. The price was about the same as the big hotels, but I preferred this place’s charm and calm. It’s a good fit if you want comfort and quality without glitz or grand ambitions.

We only got to stay one night, which was a shame. The spacious rooms open onto a lovely inner courtyard, and the whole boutique hotel feels welcoming and beautifully arranged. We landed here by accident after a problem with our booked hotel, and its owner sorted out our stay here. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was wonderful, and in the tourist off-season a curious little bird was our only company.

Breakfast is served in a charming shared room, with both regular choices and traditional Tozeurian specialties. The rooftop terrace is roomy and a lovely place to unwind. The hotel feels like a calm oasis, with comfortable rooms, lovely shutters, and a side-street setting very close to the medina. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was top notch, and the reception team were incredibly friendly and accommodating. It’s a lovely little hotel, with a spacious room and everything I needed.
