Galaxy Beach Hotel

The food was disgusting, with no labels, and breakfast included leftover chips and onion rings from the night before. Around 20 people, including me, got food poisoning. The pool bar shut by 9.55 pm, and at about 9.30 you could only get one beer each. It was really watered down. Although it was all-inclusive, only water, juice, tea and coffee were free at the beach, and you had to pay for food. The private beach was a joke, with sunbeds set at a 90 degree angle and a charge for cushions. Entertainment was awful, just a laptop and speakers that kept cutting out. The music was turned off at 10pm. If you wanted a pool sunbed, you had to get up at 5am. On our last day it got a bit breezy, and chunks of metal fell from the roof into the pool. Management smiled and said it was the wind. If anyone had been in the pool, it could have caused real damage. The restaurant cleaning staff and the maids who cleaned our room were good. That's about the best thing I can say. AVOID AVOID. Honestly, this isn't a four-star place, I wouldn't give it even one.

The beach was shail, not sand, with just one row of sunbeds on level ground and the rest at an angle up a 90° slope. The lifeguard spent more time trying his luck with single women who wanted to sunbathe. The two older men running the beach bar were the only decent staff in the whole complex. Around the pool, things were disgusting, and it was constantly overflowing. Two people fell while we were there. A woman in the shop offered to sell one of them shoes so it wouldn't happen again. Food was shocking and had no variety. Staff were rude and, in my experience, very anti-English. The bar was hardly ever open or staffed. It shut from 12-30 until 14-00, then again from 17-00 to 17-30, and closed for good at 22-00. Drinks came in half measures. I complained when the barman refused to serve me eight minutes before closing, and the manager said he'd talk to him. The place seemed to cater only for local, Romanian and Russian visitors. I didn't feel English guests were welcome. We arrived at 7am after a four-hour drive. This was called a 4☆ hotel, but I'd say 2☆ at best. The receptionist looked like we'd woken him from a nap. They gave us a different room from the number on our welcome envelope. Its shower leaked, the tap wobbled, and there was no key. We went back to reception three times for the key and were told to return in half an hour. It apparently hadn't been handed in by the previous guest. The manager was supposedly off that day. Eventually we stood our ground and demanded the room we'd booked, which was better than the first one. If you're reading this, think twice before booking. It's definitely not four-star, and I would avoid it at all costs.

There was a lot to do nearby, and it was easy to catch a bus to alanya for shopping. The activities we'd booked picked us up right at the hotel and brought us back afterward. We also found the staff nice, though a few acted as if they were above everyone else, and many spoke no English. We stayed for two weeks and expected free WiFi throughout the hotel because that's what it said online, but it was only free in the lobby. The bedding and towels weren't actually cleaned daily. Staff just made the bed and folded the used towels from the day before. At dinner we found raw chicken and told a staff member, who said, "sometimes we are rushing because it's busy". We avoided meat for the rest of the trip. While we were there, we saw guests save three children from drowning. The lifeguard was inside drinking coffee and not even looking at the pool. The bar also closed 5-10 minutes before the times posted on the signs, and the entertainment felt repetitive and rushed.

The beach is very close, just through a subway, and the beds are free. But if you want a mattress, a rude man comes over shouting 2 euro. Around the pool, people kept sunbeds all day even if they only used them for an hour. The all-inclusive bar was shut more often than it was open, and the lift on our fourth floor had been broken for two days. The restaurant always smelled unpleasant, and the food was awful unless you like chips and onion rings for breakfast. Our room was very basic and could use some improvements. Staff didn't look happy at work, and their attitude showed it. We found nearby places to eat at okay prices, but we didn't expect to eat out for every meal after booking all-inclusive. If you're looking for entertainment, this isn't the place. I regret not checking the reviews before booking, and hope this helps someone else.
