De Mare Family Hotel

We were satisfied, and it's very affordable for what you get. The service was good, with Mr. Ferhat and the rest of the staff making a real effort to keep guests happy. There are plenty of positives, though some negatives too. Thank you for everything.

The rooms felt very old and poorly cared for. Although some reviews talked about renovations, the work seemed to be limited to the lobby. I booked because of the 8+ rating on booking and the praise for cleanliness and food. I knew it was a 3-star hotel and wasn't expecting perfection, but the conditions came close to unsanitary. Outside dining tables were rarely cleaned, and we often had to wipe them ourselves. The shower was in terrible shape. When cleaning staff did come, they entered with their shoes on and left dirt behind. Cleaning was also irregular: nobody came for the first three days, until we asked, and other guests had to argue to get their rooms cleaned. The food sometimes repeated the same dishes for three days in a row. The menu was occasionally good, but most of the time it felt painfully repetitive, and many dishes were spicy, which may not suit everyone. The beach area wasn't well maintained. The long chairs were broken and extremely dirty, and there was trash in the sand, though getting into the sea was decent. The hotel is advertised as family-friendly, but smokers were everywhere and it was hard to find a smoke-free area. Loud music continued past midnight, which made it less suitable for families with children. The staff also seemed to take our smiles as permission to touch our several-months-old baby. Before we could react, she had been kissed twice. This might be acceptable in Turkish culture, but a hotel welcoming international tourists should know some guests may object. It wouldn't be too much to ask parents before reaching in to kiss a baby.

The guest service was outstanding, and the staff went beyond what I expected. Food was delicious, the swimming pool was large, and the rooms were spacious. A very good hotel, and I'll definitely return.

I was surprised by how good the hotel was, especially the service. If you got hungry at night, you could still find a nice cup of soup. The cook makes really tasty food. Give it a try.
