Gurtas Hotel

We were put here by our travel agency for a transit stay. The rooms were spacious, clean, and air conditioned, and the staff were friendly. The food was good enough for this kind of hotel. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. It works for a short stay, but if I were spending longer in the city, I’d choose somewhere quieter.

My tour booked this place. There are ATMs a short walk away, along with dining, a liquor store, and more. Many tourist sights take quite a long walk to reach. It seemed quieter here than in the old streets of the hub, which get narrow and busy late at night. The tram is right in front, which is handy. Taxis can’t get to the hotel, so they have to drop you nearby. At night, make sure the taxi leaves you on a well-lit stub street. I’m not sure the rear hotel door is open at night, and there’s no light back there.

The first room was very warm because the air conditioning didn’t work, and the shower had failed too. They tried three times to fix it without success, then moved us to another room that was much cooler. Breakfast was very nice and the rooms were spacious. The bed covers were so narrow they barely covered the top of the bed, with no overhang. I’d rate the experience around 2-2.5 stars.

We had the top room, with a terrace and amazing views. The hotel staff were super friendly and helpful, and breakfast had a good range of drinks and food for vegetarians as well as people who eat everything. The location is great. It’s about 25 minutes from the airport, next to a big shopping center and a high street, and roughly 20 minutes from the beach. You can get there by tram, taxi, or shuttle. The Viator tours we booked either picked us up at the hotel or from another hotel four minutes away. There are also plenty of restaurants, small supermarkets, cosmetic shops, and a gym on the same street.
