Meyde Boutique & Suites

The kitchenette in the room and the location were the two things we liked. We stayed five days, and the room was cleaned only once, with fresh towels and sheets. We had to ask for new towels ourselves. Construction right outside made a lot of noise during the day. The room also looked worn, with dirty walls, mold in the bathroom, and an unpleasant smell.

I only lasted one night before moving, and the manager didn’t seem surprised when I checked out. I’d have expected him to ask whether he could do anything, but he didn’t. The place calls itself a boutique hotel, though there was nothing boutique about it. The photos on booking.com were very misleading; when I asked, the manager said they were five years old. They promised garden, city, and mountain views, but I had no view. You’d have to hang out of the window to see the mountain. The pool was filthy, with fallen leaves still covering the bottom. The maid didn’t clean the room or change the sheets, and the towels were almost grey from poor washing. There were no little touches either. The TV had no English-language channels, which surprised me since I’ve visited Turkey seven times and usually get MTV. Shops were a long walk away, and while the beach wasn’t too far, that didn’t make up for the room. I don’t know how this place got an 8.5 on booking.com. Don’t waste your money here.

The apartment was clean, tidy, and spacious, with all the amenities taken care of. Having a second bathroom in the two-bedroom suite would have made it even better. Stores and restaurants are within walking distance. I’d recommend this place.

We enjoyed our week here, especially the breakfast choices. The hotel was clean, and the staff were very polite and helpful. There were a couple of problems in our suite: a broken window that seemed unsafe, and something else broken in the bedroom. Even so, we had a great stay.
