The argument over payment ended with one of the men telling my Turkish friend, who was helping translate, that he’d “crack his skull” if he kept acting that way. The staff spoke no English, and the whole thing was horrific. I’m now at a much nicer hotel down the road for the same price. Stay away, this place is awful and the staff were the rudest I’ve ever encountered. My grandmother and I stayed three nights on a short holiday. Booking.com said we could pay by card, but on arrival they claimed the reader wouldn’t work because it was late, and said we could pay the next day. The room was abysmal: no bin, a very loud fridge that kept me awake, only cold water in the shower, and no sink soap. The sink drain leaked onto the floor and smelled like drains. A bathroom vent seemed to connect to other bathrooms, so I could sometimes hear other guests using the toilet at night, including one with an upset stomach. The bedside lights didn’t work either. In the morning the card reader was still supposedly broken. They offered to take us to a currency exchange, but we only had £100 in cash for spending money, not enough for the room. We’d expected to pay by card. They then suggested a bank transfer, so I sent one by IBAN. My bank said an international transfer could take 0 to 4 business days, and it was Saturday. They said we could check the next day. When we woke up, they were upset the money hadn’t arrived, even though we’d first wanted to use a card and then agreed to transfer. Suddenly the card reader worked, and they demanded card payment while the transfer was on its way. The dispute about whether we’d already paid lasted around 15 minutes.
