Costa Maya Hotel

We’ve visited several times in different seasons, and there’s everything you need here year round. The location is spot on, and the hospitality has always been great. Seda and the rest of the team are lovely, kind, and professional. We’ll surely be back. Highly recommended.

Seda was especially attentive and helpful, and the customer service was top notch. We also really liked the shower and, most of all, the bed. The Wi-Fi was a bit unreliable when we visited, a couple of weeks before peak season, while they were changing providers. They kindly gave us a hotspot when we really needed one. The hotel is pretty and relaxing, just a few minutes from Bodrum marina and the city center shops, bars, and restaurants. We enjoyed the buffet’s good selection of traditional Turkish breakfast. A nice place to unwind and enjoy a holiday.

We checked out after two nights, despite booking six, because the room conditions were unacceptable. It wasn’t clean: wiping up a few drops of water from the floor left the tissue dark brown. The toilet was leaking, and its seat was the wrong shape and didn’t fit. When I reported it, a staff member just shrugged and said, “Yes, I know.” The windows wouldn’t open at first. After we asked for them to be fixed, they could be opened but wouldn’t shut again, which made us feel unsafe on the ground floor with the windows left open. When it rained, the breakfast room roof leaked. There were no plates or mugs, and staff ignored us when we asked for help. We tried to sort this out privately. I emailed a full complaint, followed up several times, and called twice, but got no reply and spent money on the calls. We sent photos and video evidence too, with no response. We booked through Booking.com, but they said they hadn’t actually facilitated the booking and directed us to contact the hotel. The hotel staff then offered no support either. After this experience, I can’t recommend the hotel.

On our January visit with a friend, we arrived during a storm and it felt cold and chilly. The heating and AC worked, but the hotel isn’t really made for winter. Once the storm passed, that was fine, and we had no other issues. The staff were very nice and accommodating about a request I made after we ran into a problem. This was my second stay at Costa Maya. My first was in peak season, which was absolute bliss: the pool was amazing and clean, the bar service was good, and the hotel was clean and nice, with a decent breakfast. Worth it, and I’d recommend it for families or friends.
