Moonshine Hotel & Suites

The pool was nice, though it’s around 1.6 m deep, so keep an eye on children. The rooms had an odd smell; we asked to move, and the second room was better but still didn’t feel as fresh as you’d expect for the price. Breakfast was poor and the coffee wasn’t good at all. It felt too expensive for the service.

The red-haired receptionist was very polite, but the owner could be rude and moody. Some staff didn’t understand any English, which made ordering food at the bar frustrating. The rooms were dirty, and I found insects in my daughter’s bed. The pool was okay, but at 1.80 m deep, children who can’t swim need an adult with them. The children’s pool was empty in July and August, so I can’t say what it’s like in other months. One bar worker got into a violent fight with a customer and made a big scene because the kids were jumping in the pool.

The room had several problems: the window lock was broken, the curtains kept falling down, and the toilet seat fixing was loose enough to give way when someone sat on it. The broken lock meant someone could get in from outside. When we raised it with the manager, they already knew, but only put tape over the window, which obviously did nothing. We asked for a different room after seeing that, and only then were offered one. There had been rooms available from the beginning, yet they first put us in this bad room and left it that way after our initial complaint. The management team seemed unable to solve guest problems efficiently and ended up creating more.

We paid for a room, stayed one night, and then the hotel told us we had to pay more or they’d kick us out. My girlfriend and I travel full time around the world, and neither of us has ever been treated so disrespectfully at a hotel. The room was also very dark, street noise was loud, and the place looked like it had seen better days. Stay away, no matter what.
