Tanevit Mountain House sits at the quiet edge of the plateau and still feels like a real mountain home. Levent is friendly, Nuran is welcoming, and Nuray's cooking is excellent. The freshly baked bread from the wood stove, homemade meals, desserts, and breakfast are hard to describe, you have to try them. We stayed one night in the bungalows below too, but this house and plateau feel like a completely different experience. There are five rooms across two floors, with a shared bathroom and living room on each floor. Downstairs there's a warm kitchen and a terrace. We came here eleven years ago with our children and stayed a night, amazed by the quiet and the nature. I'd never seen so many stars so clearly, and the sunset over the sea of fog was unforgettable. Apart from a few renovated mountain houses, Pokut has hardly changed. I hope it stays that way, and that the roads remain as they are, or it could end up like Ayder. I'd say stay at least one night to take in the peace and magic. Sal Plateau is a 30-minute walk through the forest, a somewhat more touristy stop for day trips, with a cafe serving delicious rice pudding. If you have a high-clearance vehicle, make the drive up and spend a night to experience the plateau and its views.

We've stayed at Tanevit Mountain Lodge in Pokut twice this year, and its lovely team and delicious food keep bringing us back. They make you feel at home, and the meals really stay with you. Definitely recommend it :)

We spent five lovely, warm days in September with the wonderful people of Pokut plateau, and felt completely at home thanks to the Tanevit family. Levent bey, Nurdan hanım and Nuray abla, with her delicious cooking, made us feel so welcome. The nature is captivating in every season, with a different view around every corner. It was wonderful to experience this nature-friendly, minimalist place. Thank you all again and again ❤️

The rooms were so clean, and the sheets smelled lovely. The road to Pokut is challenging, though there's a transfer service. Nuray's cooking was a treat for my stomach. I especially loved the creamy potatoes, meat stew, bulgur pilaf, pickled beets, Laz böreği, roasted chickpeas, lentil soup and kuymak. Nurdan's sister was so warm and lovely to talk with, Ece was incredibly hospitable, and Levent is someone you really have to meet. You can feel how close and sincere this family business is. We first toured the Black Sea in 2016, and this time we came again with our daughter to stay in the highlands. After reading the reviews, I called Levent and booked two nights and three days at Tanevit. It was a wonderful few days. Pokut is absolutely worth the trip, and it's good for families with kids, with a play area outside. I also slept so close to the stars for the first time. The house is peaceful and quiet, a lovely place to rest. We left so happy and are counting down until we can return. ❤️
