Md City Otel

The staff tried hard and meant well, but it wasn’t enough to rescue a terrible stay. When we arrived at noon, the water was still off, so we had to use the shared toilet downstairs. They gave us a room at the MD Barbaros hotel to shower. They said we should have booked there, but when I asked, they told me that hotel was full. The water had already been off when we arrived in the evening, then again when we got up early. We tried to manage with small plastic bottles, and it was a disaster. The bathroom was old, with warped door frames, a rusty radiator, and no door on the old-style shower cabin. The refrigerator wasn’t working because it was connected to a card. We gave the things we needed to keep cold to reception and put them in the kitchen.

I paid through Hotels.com, and the payment was taken just as they reported a system error. The reservation then didn’t appear on the site. I called the hotel for hours but couldn’t get through. Hotels.com also never connected me with anyone authorized to help, and the site has many shortcomings. I went to the hotel today and explained that I’d booked through Hotels.com. They said my reservation wasn’t in their system. When I said I couldn’t reach them, they told me their phones were broken. My money was never refunded. I absolutely don’t recommend this place. Even one star is too much.

We paid 55 euros per room for six rooms as part of a larger group, and I regretted not finding somewhere else after I left. Each room had one of the issues I mention. The rooms are at most two-star standard, with old furniture, uncomfortable mattresses, and dirt under the furniture and fridge. The bathroom was outdated, with problems involving the drain, shower head, shower door, and other things. There are no window screens, and mosquitoes were bad enough that we had to use repellent to sleep. Breakfast is served at MD Barbarosa. It was decent, neither impressive nor disappointing, much like the rooms. The location itself is okay, near a mall where you can eat or buy things at the supermarket, but street noise is a downside. I stayed one night on 14.09.2024 as an overnight stop. Don’t stay here unless every other option is sold out.

The bed and room were clean, the staff friendly, and we were satisfied enough that I’d stay again. A few things need attention: the bathroom ventilation window still has plastic packaging on its PVC profiles, the rough plaster around it hasn’t been finished, and water splashes around during a shower. They could at least put up a shower curtain.
