Asell Suite

We’d paid in mid-May when we booked. On the day we were meant to leave, the escalating events in the region and the war forced us to cancel the whole trip, including the hotel, flights, and everything else. We explained the circumstances to both the hotel and Booking.com, and Booking.com contacted them too, but nothing came of it. They ignored our attempts to reach them and didn’t offer even a partial refund. I absolutely can’t recommend this hotel. They showed no integrity. 👎

We couldn’t stay and had to leave, even though we’d paid. The place was extremely dirty: hair all over the sheets, rubbish left by previous guests, empty shampoo bottles, and no soap or towels. There were no curtains on the balcony windows, so we had to cover ourselves with the bed blanket. The doors wouldn’t lock, the radiators didn’t work, and there was nobody to speak to. We couldn’t reach anyone in charge when we called at night. They showed us the rooms on arrival, but you need to check inside the beds and under the pillows. This doesn’t feel like a family place, and it has nothing to do with suites. It doesn’t deserve even one star. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it; our money was wasted, and I don’t know how we’ll get it back.

The hotel’s position by the lake makes the noise hard to escape. People keep passing right by the door or balcony, so sitting with family is difficult. Across from it, a kiosk plays loud music all day, only stopping around 11:00 PM. You can also hear every footstep throughout the rooms. The building is made of iron and zinc and vibrates, and people downstairs hear footsteps all day. Rooms are very cramped, there’s a constant sewage and drain smell, and none of the TVs work. They blame the rain, but that’s just how the rooms are. There’s no parking, so you have to leave the car far away and walk down a slope or up a hill to get to it. I don’t recommend this hotel. It doesn’t even qualify as a hotel. This is my honest review, dated August 1st, 2024. I think the best area in Uzungöl is the south side, opposite the Trabzon road. It’s quiet and green, with a river, and the lake is very close.

The price is very reasonable for the quality and service, and the staff, cleanliness, and location make these suites a rare find. Thanks to the owner, Mehmet Emin Bey, and all the staff for a great stay.
