Maja Luxury Resort Hotel

At breakfast, we could see the grounds and beach area, where several construction workers were present. The hotel seemed unfinished. We also watched a young man throw large amounts of garden waste, including branches and bamboo, directly into the sea. Several employees walked by without stepping in. We told a staff member in the lobby, and she took a photo but didn’t seem seriously concerned. The dumping continued until the water was visibly polluted. I believe the relevant authorities urgently need to investigate the hygiene, safety, environmental pollution, and general treatment of guests here. I documented the conditions with photos and will inform the authorities. This is a matter of guests’ health and safety, not just poor service. The prices were unreasonable too. A can of Coke cost €8. At the beach club, after we’d waited over an hour for our room on arrival and were exhausted, we just wanted to relax. We ordered a Coke and a Red Bull, but an employee came by every 15 minutes or so asking if we wanted anything else. After several visits, he asked if he could put the bill in our name. It felt pushy and disrespectful. Our first room was in unacceptable shape. We waited more than an hour past the listed 2:00 PM check-in because it supposedly wasn’t clean yet. When we finally got in, some windows were missing, the doors didn’t close properly, there was dirt and dust everywhere, the hot water wasn’t working properly, and one sink sprayed water in all directions. The floor was damaged, with nails sticking out in places, and the air conditioning didn’t work properly. After we complained, we were moved to a worse room. The balcony seemed so unstable I feared it might collapse. The toilet seat and bathtub plug were missing, there were no mirrors, and the bathroom was filthy. Naked snails came up through the floor while I was showering, which still gives me goosebumps. We complained again and were moved to a third room. By then I wanted to leave, and the vacation felt ruined. We had no short-notice alternative, so we stayed another two days. That room was also far below an acceptable standard: it smelled strongly musty, had visible mold in several places, and the furniture was old, worn, and unhygienic. The only part that seemed to get attention was the beach club. The rest of the hotel looked like a construction site. I’ve rarely seen a hotel in such poor condition. The stay was a nightmare and a complete disappointment.

The food was delicious and the service excellent, and the location was great too. Congratulations to General Manager Fuat Bey and the management team, and wishing them continued success.
