Yalcin Hotel Resort

The family who runs this beautiful hotel is really nice, and the staff went out of their way to help us. There’s a lovely garden at the back, plus wifi and an elevator. Our two-room suite had AC, and the rooms were spacious and clean. I stayed for about 10 days in 2018 and loved the healthy, delicious food. I ate a lot and still lost so much weight. I’ll definitely stay here again. I love this place and Turkey. I don’t put much stock in the negative reviews. Many seem to be from tour guests who expect 5 star service while paying a 2 star price. Tour packages can mean different rooms, room quality, amenities, and services compared with a full-price stay. That’s how it works at any other hotel in the USA, too. You get what you pay for. A discounted package doesn’t entitle you to free water or a big fancy room, and you can’t expect a large suite and free food if those aren’t included. Pay full price if you want the same treatment as guests who do. This place is great.

The rooms are just okay, but things are falling apart: a broken window, dirty sheets, and no hot water in the shower. For what they charge, it’s very poor value compared with other hotels in Turkey. The restaurant food should be avoided at all costs. The buffet was dirty and covered with flies, and we had to clean our own table because the waiters didn’t clear it after guests. They seem to run the business for groups, so individual guests aren’t welcome.

The wifi only reached the restaurant, with no connection in the room. The rooms weren’t very clean either. Taking a shower wasn’t great because water covered the bathroom floor, and there was hair in the bathtub from a previous guest. The AC had no remote, so it was either off and warm or on and cold.

I came back five days after my first stay, and the north building was a big improvement. Those rooms were much better, and the food was fresher with a lot more variety, almost like a 4 star. The first visit was terrible: I was put in a small, old room in the south building, and the food seemed at least 3 days old. Definitely not 5 star.
