DoubleTree by Hilton Gaziantep

The central heating was set to 27 Celsius, which felt too hot for me to sleep. I was surprised to learn later that I could have asked for control of the room temperature. I stayed two nights during my Antep visit, and the location was great, close to the city center, Baklava shops, a market, a hospital, and banks.

After a long flight, the check-in was quick and everything was ready just right. The team made sure I had breakfast and that my room was prepared. Thanks so much to Yasin, Kobra and Golderen for all your help. Lovely, friendly people and a perfect process.

Room service portions were generous and fairly priced, and the staff were polite, friendly, and helpful. The hotel itself is nice and fairly clean, though I'd give cleanliness 4 out of 5 and staff friendliness and helpfulness 5 out of 5. The small room windows let in very little light. Parking was a bit of a nuisance: most spaces aren't self-parking, they fill quickly, and valet takes time when you need your car. It's also a little far from the Carsi markets and downtown business district. Still, it wasn't a bad stay and could work well if it's near where you need to be.

For €130-180 a night, this is overpriced for what you get, probably trading on its name. The hotel and its equipment are very old. The Wi-Fi didn't work, used soap was still in the shower, and the WC hadn't been cleaned properly, with urine marks on the front. The gym is a tiny, narrow room with almost no air, and there's no pool. The king bed is large, but I guess the mattresses haven't been changed in a while because they're soft in the middle. You can get much, much better for this price in Antep. We stayed at Double Tree Urfa before, and it felt like a totally different brand.
