Kose Pension

I volunteered at Kose Pension for two weeks, and it was honestly the best volunteering experience I’ve had. I felt welcome and valued right from day one. The two brothers who run it are incredibly kind and respectful, and they care about making things positive for the staff and volunteers as well as the guests. It’s a relaxed, social place. I met new people every day to explore the beautiful valleys around Göreme with, then in the evenings we’d hang out on the terrace, play cards, or join the BBQ nights organized by the staff. It really felt like a little community. The hostel itself is great, right in the heart of town, with the only pool in Göreme, a delicious Turkish breakfast every morning, and a rooftop where you can watch the balloons at sunrise. Thanks to the whole Kose team. I’m so grateful for the experience and hope to come back one day :)

We were stranded when our bus didn’t arrive one night, and the staff were lifesavers. They let us stay even at 2 am and were so accommodating. Everyone was kind, the breakfasts were filling and amazing, and the hostel is in a great location. There’s a lovely rooftop for sitting in the sun, and the pool is a great extra.

The staff were friendly, the location was convenient, and breakfast was nice. They arranged my airport shuttle both ways and an ATV ride. I wasn’t keen on the room, though. There were a couple of ants in the bathroom, just one small shampoo vial, a hole in the mattress, and the bathroom’s sliding door had come off its hook so it wouldn’t move either way. I was so disappointed I didn’t even take pictures, apart from the breakfast. There was loud music and partying well into the night on my first night. It could work for solo travelers, groups of friends, or couples if you keep your expectations in check, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for a family stay.

The owner went out of his way to help me track down a passport I’d lost at the airport. The staff, from the owners to the interns, had a fantastic vibe. Our rooms were spotless and very comfortable, and after trips into the caves and mountains, the shower pressure was just right.
