Natureland Cave Hotel

We had four enjoyable nights in a relaxed, friendly place, just a short walk out of town in beautiful countryside. There are horses in a paddock below the back rooms, and the staff were great about giving information and booking tours. They sometimes arrange a guided day walk from the hotel, which I'd recommend. On some evenings there's a fire outside, nice to sit around and chat over drinks. Free WiFi is available.

We went in winter and were worried about the weather in Goreme, but it was totally worth it. The location was great, and the place was clean with a nice atmosphere. The owner and his daughter were really friendly and made us feel at home. He played traditional music for us, and they let us stay past checkout until our flight was due. They were generous with tea whenever they saw us, and breakfast was really good and traditional.

The setting is one of the best parts: a large, ranch-like space among the surrounding landscape, with beautiful views and valley trails starting right there. It's about a five-minute walk outside goreme. You sleep in caves in a place that was a sixth-century winery until recently, which makes for a really cool hostel experience. The rooms are comfortable, with storage for valuables and one bathroom per room; breakfast is hearty, and Hunkar is very accommodating. Hunkar, the manager, really cares about guests and will go out of his way to improve their stay. He's also an amazing musician. The place looks a bit run-down and ragtaggle, though. Some time and money spent cleaning it up would make it look great.

Having the cats, horses, and geese around was an added bonus, and this is the only place that felt like a legit cave. Most other places are just cave backs with stone entrances. I had a great time, and the staff were very friendly. I'm terrible with names, but the Italian woman was really helpful, and the manager was awesome about arranging my shuttle and letting me hang out when I arrived very early.
