We booked because it was cheap and wanted somewhere quiet. The street was peaceful, and even after other guests arrived on the third night, the place stayed quiet apart from hearing them use the bathroom through the thin walls. We could also smell smoke from their room. At $30AU a night, this might suit someone after a very cheap stay in a quiet spot. If you're looking for a place with some vibe, I'd go elsewhere. The photos are misleading. As of August 2025, a family was living downstairs, with just a few guest rooms upstairs, each with a bed or two and maybe a shelf. The pool, ground-floor apartment, and table and chairs shown in the pictures were being used by the family. The garden was full of plastic bottles and kids' toys. They were nice enough, and although they didn't speak English, we managed with Google Translate. I don't want to hurt the family's ability to run their business, but they need a cleaner and updated photos. Our sheets were clean, but the room was otherwise grotty. Someone else's tissues filled the bedside table, and the light switches and walls were covered in what looked like pudding. It needs a proper scrub. The air conditioning was brand new and worked well, and the bed and pillows were comfortable enough. The shared bathroom was grotty too, with no toilet paper or soap. Wi-Fi worked downstairs but not upstairs. The beach is close, and on Thursdays there's an amazing Bazaar right outside the front gate.
