Günes Apart

This well kept block is in the quieter Marmaris end of Icmeler, just a quick walk from the beach and town centre. A Turkish couple run it, keep it spotlessly clean, and repaint it each year. It’s popular with English regulars, with low prices, good value and friendly owners. Each self-catering apartment has three rooms, a bedroom, bathroom and lounge/kitchen, plus front and back balconies. The bedroom has single beds and air con that you pay for locally. There’s a hairdryer in the bathroom, along with a traditional Turkish shower and wraparound curtain, so the floor can get wet if you’re not careful. The kitchen has units, a sink, a full-size fridge, the usual two-burner electric hob and standard utensils. In the lounge, two large chairs fold out into beds. The decor is very 70s, but it’s kept in good shape and brought back lovely memories for those of us over 50. Downstairs there’s reception, a bar with a good range of drinks and a small rectangular pool with a few sun loungers. The sun goes behind the building in the early afternoon, so there’s morning sun and shade later. To the right of reception is a big covered seating area with the largest collection of holiday reading books I’ve ever seen.

We’re staying here now. The apartment is lovely and clean, and the staff work hard and are friendly. The rooms are clean too.

We loved our 17-night stay and couldn’t fault it. These family-run apartments are spotless, from the rooms to the pool area, and the rooms are cleaned every day. Everyone was very friendly and would do anything for you. Snacks are available all day, and they make the best homemade chips in icmeler. We’ve booked for next year.

September 2023 I’m staying at Gunes App and couldn’t be happier. My husband was rushed to hospital, and thank God for Gunes. It’s the best place in Icmeler. Thanks for everything. I don’t think I could have coped without the care and attention from this devout family. Their care is unbelievable xxx
