A Warmly Welcome Home to Star Holiday Hotel 6

There was a secure place to leave our luggage before getting the room, which I found really useful. The hotel is easy to find in Sultan Ahmed, near the Blue mosque and Aya Sofia, and about a five-minute walk from the airport bus. The employees were welcoming and helpful. At reception, you can communicate in English, but elsewhere it was harder because people didn’t understand English. Breakfast had a variety of cakes, juices, coffee, salads, and cheese. The main nuisance was electrical noise when trying to sleep. I had to take out the key and switch off the lights to stop it.

I stayed five days, and the rooms were a gamble. They’re tiny, with torn walls and bathrooms almost inside the room. A road-facing room also means outside noise at night, plus breakfast preparations. This was true even on the fourth floor, which I’d suggest avoiding if possible. Breakfast was poor, too. The dining area is small and packed when everyone comes down at 9. There wasn’t anywhere to sit, and by 9:30 they wouldn’t make more food like eggs, even though breakfast supposedly runs until 10:30. You only get one room key, and my repeated requests for another were turned down. Is that normal for a three-star hotel? At best, this is a one-star hotel.

The staff were welcoming and helpful, from reception to housekeeping, and could give directions or local tips. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was simple but enjoyable, with a partial Bosphorus view, fresh bread, cheese, olives, boiled eggs, tea, and coffee. My room was clean, with consistent daily housekeeping, but it was compact, just enough for a bed and essentials. The bathroom was clean too. It would suit a solo traveler or couple better than a family or a longer stay. The elevator only fits two people, or one with luggage, which is typical in an older building. Star Holiday Hotel is right in the historic Sultanahmet area, near the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and Topkapi Palace, with shops, restaurants, and public transport close by. For exploring the old city, the location is excellent. The catch is that taxis can’t reach the entrance because the zone is pedestrian-only. From the nearest drop-off point, expect to walk around 0.5 km with your luggage, which could be hard with heavy bags or mobility issues. I had a pleasant, comfortable stay and would consider returning. It’s a clean, central, budget-friendly choice if you’re ready for the walk and small rooms.

Every time I stay at Star Holidays Hotel in Istanbul, it feels like coming home. Yasin and the whole team have been kind, warm, and genuinely caring. I didn’t catch everyone’s name, but each person made me feel welcome and comfortable. The location is perfect, the service is excellent, and I’m always happy here. I’ll definitely come back.
