Getting around was a struggle. The hotel sits on a steep hill, far from public transport. Tophane tram stop means going down a very steep slope and then climbing back up. Taksim metro is about a 10-minute walk along a narrow sidewalk that felt unsafe and sometimes became part of the road. A taxi was really the only practical way to reach the hotel. The rooms were filthy and badly maintained. I had to move rooms, and neither was acceptable. Room 307 had stained sheets and dirty towels, dust everywhere, poor lighting, broken things, and dark red splashes on the wall that looked like blood. The hairdryer didn’t work. It had been sprayed heavily with air freshener at check-in, but once that smell faded, there was a strong sewage odor. After one night I showed photos and asked to move. Staff seemed surprised and said they’d never seen those problems, which made me think the rooms weren’t being properly checked or cleaned. Room 507 was only a little better. A foul smell came from the wardrobe, so I kept my clothes in my suitcase. The toilet seat was stained, and the refrigerator didn’t work. The whole stay felt disgusting and completely unacceptable. Breakfast was poor too, with basic choices, badly washed dishes, and machine coffee with visible residue. I strongly warn others against staying here. This place can ruin your trip.

The breakfast had a good range of choices, and the hotel was quiet while still being well placed for sightseeing. My room was roomy, clean, and had a comfortable bed. The heating worked really well. The toiletries smelled amazing, though there was no toothpaste or toothbrush. I was very happy here and would absolutely recommend it to a first-time visitor who’s feeling unsure, like I was.

The room was clean and pleasant, and the bellboy was genuinely kind and helpful. He was the only person who made us feel welcome. The breakfast was limited and didn’t meet international buffet standards. The location was okay, but the hotel is a 10-15 minute walk downhill on a very steep slope to the main road and public transport, and the uphill walk back is the worst part. Service at reception was far below standard. On arrival, the staff member checked us in while talking to other guests, barely listening to us. Then another guest was served ahead of us while we were still checking in, with no explanation or apology. The attitude felt unprofessional from the start. We got extra towels the first night, but the next day housekeeping left just one for two guests, even though the earlier towels had been used. When we called, it felt as though we were asking for a favor instead of a basic service. The temperature was another problem. I live in a hot country and sleep with A/C, so I expected to be able to cool the room. They switched from heating to a cooler setting the first night without trouble, then switched it back to heat the next day without telling us. Reception said they couldn’t change it because other guests on the floor wanted heat. Guests should be able to set their own comfort, and the system felt outdated for a hotel. Communication was rude and dismissive throughout. Instead of resolving things, reception told us to take complaints to management ourselves. The room was fine, but if basic respect and professionalism matter to you, I’d think twice before booking.

Cihangir is a chic, trendy neighborhood, with cozy cafés, good restaurants and bars, and a lively but relaxed feel. AHC Taksim Hotel is right there, and the service and attention to detail were excellent. The whole place smelled amazing and felt welcoming as soon as we walked in. The staff were professional, kind, and ready to help. We loved our stay and would definitely come back!

The breakfast was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The lobby and rooms were very clean. I’d recommend the hotel and would come back.
