Bayer Hotel

One of the reception guys was friendly, but I'd look elsewhere if comfort matters. The room was extremely worn. The floor sloped from wall to wall in both directions, the faucet leaked heavily, and the stove gave an electric shock. The sheets were stained, dirty and frayed at the edges, and had another hotel's name on them, perhaps because they'd been discarded. The safe had no power and wouldn't open, while the vents revealed a hole in the wall. The cleaning wasn't good either, floors had been swept but dirty marks remained. It felt like the hotel should have been demolished years ago.

The staff were great and the location helped, but the place was terrible and wasn't even the cheapest hotel in the area. There was a dingy smell that took some getting used to. The couches looked old and dirty, with cigarette burns, and guests were constantly scrambling for towels. There were no guest laundry facilities, unless washing clothes by hand in the kitchen or bathroom sinks counts. The bidets were hit or miss, and one of our rooms had very low water pressure for it. The air conditioners all dripped, and in some rooms they were right above the bed, which made sleeping unpleasant. Water was unreliable, too. During our roughly 12 day stay, we had no hot water for four days and no water at all for one day. It wasn't a neighbourhood-wide problem: I took a nice warm shower that day at my cousin's hotel, a five minute walk away. Babu House was the only place affected.

Hasmet and the others were very welcoming and helpful. They gave us good recommendations and helped us get around Istanbul and Taksim. The room was clean and comfortable, and it's a very good hotel. I'd recommend it. Thank you, Hasmet and friends :)

The reception staff were nice to guests, and Ali and Hashmet were great. Babu hotel is clean, well priced and very peaceful. If I come back to istanbul, I'd choose to stay here again. 👍🏼
