Bender Hotel

The location is great, and the old building is beautiful, but our stay had several problems. Soundproofing was very poor, so we heard a lot of street noise and footsteps from upstairs. When we arrived, there were no bedroom blinds, and the room faced the neon lights of the shop across the street, which was unbelievable. Cleanliness felt questionable: the windows were very dusty, as if they hadn’t been cleaned in a while, and the old bathroom blinds had lots of stains. The hotel, room and breakfast area smelled of harsh chemical products. We skipped breakfast, and the basement breakfast area didn’t look inviting anyway. We asked to check out after the first night, and the staff kindly accommodated us. We found another hotel.

I loved opening the curtains each morning to the sea right outside my window. That view made the trip feel special. The hotel is in Fatih, close enough to walk to Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the tram. My room was cozy, clean, and had what I needed. Breakfast was fresh, tasty, and offered a nice range of local flavors. The staff were attentive and kind whenever I needed help. I’d happily recommend it for a stay in Istanbul.

We were really happy with Bender hotel. I’d stayed at a nearby hotel a few years ago and meant to return, but chose this one because it cost less. The stay here turned out much better. The room was roomy and I liked its style; breakfast was good, and the dining space had a charming feel. Staff were great and answered our questions whenever we needed a hand. For sightseeing, the location is hard to beat: major attractions are nearby on foot, and several metro stations are accessible. The streets are lit at night, so we felt comfortable walking back.

The price was great, and I booked it for the traditional design and the fact that everything was within walking distance. The rooms were comfortable, with a nice interior, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine too. There were a couple of things to be aware of. The floor and furniture could use a deeper clean, and sometimes there weren’t enough supplies for the number of guests. My friends also had trouble sleeping because of noise from upstairs, though I slept like a log. The insulation seems a bit dated. I’d come back, just probably not to a room on the ground floor.
